How and Why Would You Offer Unmetered Data Transfer?
Solution

Even though local bandwidth is costly, we feel that we should not have to limit your website's growth with data transfer limits (also termed as metered transfer). For plans with metered data transfer, your website will be instantly suspended when you exceed your data transfer limit, and your website be replaced with a page saying, "This account has exceeded its data transfer limit". Once that happens, your website will clearly be unavailable, and any emails will be rejected as well. However, with Vodien, you will never see such a page.

In a shared hosting environment, resources, such as bandwidth, are shared with all users residing on a particular server. To prevent abuse, we have introduced a bandwidth throttling policy that steps in whenever an account's data transfer amounts become exceedingly high. This will provide ample time for the user to take any necessary action to mitigate this spike in usage. For more information on our policy, refer to our terms of service.

For constantly high traffic users, we strongly recommend an upgrade to a VPS account or dedicated server with committed bandwidth to ensure optimal resources for your website.

A typical SME website will rarely exceed 5GB worth of data transfer a month -- therefore bandwidth is not much of an issue to most people. Traffic intensive websites typically do not wish to stay in a shared web hosting environment as they require more committed resources to better serve their websites.

In summary, website availability is extremely important. The last thing that you would want to see is a big red notice that you have exceeded your data transfer limits, and that all your website services including your email service is unavailable. With our unmetered data transfer plans, we ensure that this does not happen to your website.
