Change Nameservers
When you register a Domain Name with us, the Name Servers are set to the following records, by default:
- NS1.VODIEN.COM
- NS2.VODIEN.COM
- NS3.VODIEN.COM
However, you always have the option to change them to your hosting provider’s Name Server records.
Learn all about Name Servers and how to change them in this article.
What Are Name Servers
Name Servers translate your domain name to an IP address. It can serve as an easy identifier for a specific location on the web, so you don’t have to type a string of numbers in a browser to access a website. Instead, you enter a Domain Name, e.g. mydomain.com, and the system automatically finds that website and displays it on your browser.
Your Name Servers also tell the system where all other DNS records can be managed. If your Domain Name is registered with us but is using an external hosting provider’s Name Servers, then all DNS updates should be done via your hosting provider’s platform.
Before changing your Name Servers, you’ll need to contact your hosting provider to ask for the correct records to use.
How to Change Name Servers
Once you have the Name Server records ready, you can change them in your Account Manager using these steps:
