How to Connect FTP via FileZilla on Windows
FileZilla is a very common FTP Client used by Windows users. FileZilla will allow you to import, export, upload and download files from your server, and change permissions. You’ll get to familiarise on how to connect to your webspace using FileZilla.
There are two ways to connect to your server.
Using Site Manager
Step 1. Open FileZilla.
Step 2. Click File and choose Site Manager. Click New Site.
You may rename the ‘New Site’ to your website address.
Step 3. Under General, enter your FTP Credentials:
- Protocol: FTP – File Transfer Protocol
- Encryption: Only use plain FTP (insecure)
- Logon Type: Normal
Step 4. Click Connect.
You will then see that your connection is successful and connected to the server.
Using Quickconnect
Step 1. Open FileZilla.
Step 2. Enter your FTP Credentials.
Step 3. Click Quickconnect.
Important: Web Hosting (Shared) packages may use port 21 or leave Port field empty. While VPS and Dedicated Servers may use 21 or 22 (SSH).
Once the connection is successful, you will be able to transfer files and do changes for your website.
