How to Create a Subdomain

Subdomain Name functions as an extension of a registered Domain Name, allowing you to send visitors to a different web address without having to register a new Domain Name.

For example, maindomain.com can have the Subdomainsshop.maindomain.com or blog.maindomain.com, depending on your goals. Creating a Subdomain helps you divide or organise your web content into distinct sections apart from your main site.

Create a Subdomain Name via cPanel

Follow the instructions below to access your hosting account and create a Subdomain:

  1. Log in to your cPanel using this link format: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel/
(Replace yourdomain.com with the main Domain Name connected to your Vodien hosting.)
  2. Once logged in, click on the Subdomains link under the Domains panel.
  3. Enter your desired Subdomain Name in the Subdomain field; e.g., for blog.maindomain.com, simply enter the word “blog” in this field.
Note: The Document Root will automatically be created in the directory. This is where the website files for your new Subdomain Name will be stored.
  4. Select the Domain Name to use from the drop-down list under Domain.
  5. Click on Create button to save the changes.
  6. A confirmation message will display on the next page. Click Go Back to view your added Subdomains, or create more.

A list of all your Subdomain Names will appear at the bottom of the page. You can click on the Manage Redirection link to specify a website to display, if preferred.
