How to Create a Subdomain
A Subdomain Name functions as an extension of a registered Domain Name, allowing you to send visitors to a different web address without having to register a new Domain Name.
For example, maindomain.com can have the Subdomains: shop.maindomain.com or blog.maindomain.com, depending on your goals. Creating a Subdomain helps you divide or organize your web content into distinct sections apart from your main site.
Create a Subdomain Name via cPanel
Follow the instructions below to access your hosting account and create a Subdomain:
- Log in to your cPanel using this link format: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel/ (Replace yourdomain.com with the main Domain Name connected to your Vodien hosting.)
- Once logged in, click on the Domains link under the Domains Panel.
- Click Create a Domain.
- Enter your desired Subdomain Name in the Domain and the main domain field (e.g., for blog.maindomain.com, simply enter the word “blog.maindomain.com” in this field.)
- Click on Submit button to save the changes.
- A confirmation message will display on the next page. Click Go Back to view your added Subdomains, or create more.
NOTE. The Document Root will automatically be created in the directory. This is where the website files for your new Subdomain Name will be stored.
