How To Manage Email Marketing Contacts
Your email marketing contacts are the list of people to whom you send the newsletters. This is composed of mainly the person’s name and email address. In Vodien email marketing, you can also add their phone number and fax number.
These are the things you can do with your email marketing contacts:
Add a New Contact Manually
Follow the steps below to add a contact one by one via the Email Marketing dashboard.
- Access your email marketing dashboard.
- Click CONTACTS.
3. Under the CONTACTS tab, click the ADD A CONTACT button.
4. Fill out the Contact Details under ADD NEW CONTACT.
5. Toggle the switch if the contact is a Test Contact.
6. Select which existing mailing list you want to assign the contact to or create a new one for it. See how to assign a contact to a mailing list for the guide.
7. Click SAVE AND ADD ANOTHER if you need to add another contact. Otherwise, click ADD AND CLOSE.
A confirmation message will show at the top of the page once successful.
Import Contacts
If you have a lot of contacts to import, the most efficient way to do it is by importing a CSV file or VCard file. Follow the steps below to import your contacts to your email marketing dashboard.
1. Select File to Import.
Step 1. Access your email marketing dashboard.
Step 2. Click CONTACTS.
Step 3. Under the CONTACTS tab, click the ADD A CONTACT button.
Step 4. Under the IMPORT CONTACTS tab, double-check if your file is aligned with the Formatting Instructions. You can also download a template if you download a CSV or VCF file.
Step 5. Drag the file/s to the box or click the browse link to open your device’s File Manager to select the file to be uploaded.
Step 6. Click PREVIEW & CONFIGURE.

Step 1. Select the corresponding column label from the drop-down. The columns that have no selection will not be imported.
Step 2. Configure the Additional Options.
- Add & Update – Select this if some contacts are already on file and just need updating.
- Add Only – Select this if all contacts are new. This may create duplicates to existing contacts.
- Show unmapped columns – Enable this to show columns with no assigned label.
- File contains column headings – Enable this to treat all entries on the first row as column headings.
Step 3. Click ASSIGN TO MAILING LISTS.
3. Assign Contacts to a Mailing List.
Step 1. Select the mailing list to assign the contacts to or create a new one. See how to assign a contact to a mailing list for the guide.
Step 2. Click IMPORT CONTACTS.
4. Wait for the import to complete.
A confirmation message will show once the import is complete.
Export Contacts
If you want to use the same contacts for your other domain name, you can export the contacts by following the steps below.
Export Multiple Contacts
- Access your email marketing dashboard.
- Click CONTACTS.
3. Under the CONTACTS tab, filter the contacts if you don’t want to export everything.
4. Click the CSV icon beside the filter.
5. Select if you want to export the Filtered Contacts or All Contacts. An option to Include Mailing Lists Information is also available.
6. Click EXPORT & DOWNLOAD.
7. On your device, assign which folder you want to save the file. Then, click Save.
Export a Contact
- Access your email marketing dashboard.
- Click CONTACTS.
3. Under the CONTACTS tab, click the ellipsis […] beside the contact you want to export.
4. On your device, assign which folder you want to save the file. Then, click Save.
Delete Contact
Follow the steps below to delete a contact. This cannot be undone and the contact will no longer be found. Create a backup of your contacts by exporting your contacts from time to time.
Delete Multiple Contacts
- Access your email marketing dashboard.
- Click CONTACTS.
3. Under the CONTACTS tab, filter the contacts to be deleted.
4. Click Delete Multiple Contacts.
5. Select to delete All Contacts or Filtered Contacts. Then, click the DELETE CONTACTS button.
A confirmation message displays once contacts are deleted.
Delete a Contact
- Access your email marketing dashboard.
- Click CONTACTS.
3. Under the CONTACTS tab, click the ellipsis […] beside the contact you want to delete. Then, choose Delete.
4. Click DELETE to confirm.
A confirmation message will show once it’s deleted.
