Move Emails Tagged by SpamAssassin
Checking your spam emails from time to time is important since spam filtering software can have a false-positive result. For POP3 users it is advisable to use your local mail client to filter the emails to a particular folder upon receiving.
There are two different levels of filtering:
- Account Level Filtering
- User Level Filtering
Before proceeding to the steps, you’ll need to decide if you’d like to filter spam emails for all users and keep it in one directory or filter only for an account. By the way, non-filtered spam emails will contain ***SPAM*** in your subject.
You also need to make sure that SpamAssassin is currently enabled and Spam Auto-delete is disabled.
Here are the steps on how to create a filter to move spam emails tagged by SpamAssassin:
Step 1. Log in to the cPanel using this link format: http://yourdomain.com/cpanel/.
Replace yourdomain.com with the Main Domain Name connected to your hosting.
Step 2. Under Email panel choose Global Email Filters or Email Filters.
Step 3. To start creating:
a. For Global Email Filters, click Create a New Filter.
b. For Email Filters, click Manage Filters under Actions. Then click Create a New Filter button.
Step 4. Fill out the details need:
Filter Name: Create a unique filter name.
Rules: Select Subject and contains. On the empty field, enter ***SPAM***.
Actions: Choose Deliver to Folder and enter this on the empty field: /.spam or you can browse the folder.
Step 5. Click Create.
For Webmail and IMAP users, you will need to manually subscribe to the folder for it to see the spam folder.
