What are POP and IMAP Settings for Outlook Office 365

It is advisable for your Email Exchange and Microsoft 365 email accounts to be set up with Exchange ActiveSync protocol to synchronise emails, calendars, tasks, and contacts across all devices. But if there is a need for you to set up your email exchange account as either POP or IMAP, see the settings below and the steps on configure it.  

Step 1. Open Outlook App 2016 or Outlook App for Microsoft 365

Step 2. Click File on the upper left side of the window and choose Add Account.

Step 3. Enter the email address in the box provided then click Advanced Options.

Step 4. Tick the box provided for Let me setup my account manually. Then, click Connect.

Step 5. Click the email protocol that you want to use for this setup. You can only choose one. Follow this link to know the difference between POP and IMAP

Step 6. Enter the following email server settings in their corresponding boxes:

Step 7. Click Next.

Step 8. Enter your email password in the Password field and then click Connect.

Step 9. A message stating that the account has been successfully added shows on the next page. Click Done to start accessing your mailbox via Outlook.
