Update Domain Registrant Contact Details
Contact information for domain names is vital and needs to be up-to-date, especially the Registrant Contact details; which is provided upon the registration of your domain name. This is required by the Registry for domain audits and for important domain updates like renewal notifications.
For most TLDs, you can change your Registrant address, email address, and phone number. However, you cannot change the Registrant name, which is either your personal name for personal accounts or business/trading name, and business number for business accounts. If you wish to update the Registrant name, you may process a transfer of domain ownership, instead.
This article will focus on how you can update your Registrant Contact details, plus how to assign other users as Admin/Tech/Billing Contacts.
Updating the Registrant Contact
Note: Updating the Registrant email address will trigger a 60-day transfer lock, where your Domain Name cannot be transferred to another Registrar, as per Registry policies. If you plan to transfer your Domain Name, we suggest that you update the contact information only after the transfer process is complete.
Follow these steps to update your Registrant Contact information:
- Visit the Vodien SG or AU website.
- Click My Account at the top of the page.
- Ensure that Account Manager is selected from the drop-down list.
- Enter your username and password, then click Log In.
- Click Domains from the top menu.
- Click on the Domain Name that you wish to manage.
If you only have (1) one Domain, you will automatically be routed to its management page. - Scroll down until you see the Administration section, then hover your cursor over the Registrant Contact section and click on the Change Owner link.
- Enter your new details and click Update.
Congratulations! You’ve updated your Registrant Contact information. Aside from this, you also have the option to update your Admin, Tech, and Billing Contacts. Learn more about these in the next section below.
Assigning Admin, Tech, and Billing Contacts
The Admin, Tech, and Billing Contact information are directly connected to your Vodien Account Profile. This means that any updates you make on your Account Profile will change the Admin/Tech/Billing information across all your Domains and Products within the same account. Likewise, modifying the Admin/Tech/Billing information on (1) one Domain/Product will change your Profile information, as well as the information across all Domains/Products.
If you wish to assign a different person to manage either of these roles for your Domain, please do NOT use the “Modify” option as this will give them the power to take over your account and everything in it. Instead, have that person create their own Vodien account and provide you with their Customer ID or Username.
Once you have their details, follow these steps to assign a new Admin/Tech/Billing Contact:
- Visit the Vodien SG or AU website.
- Click My Account at the top of the page.
- Ensure that Account Manager is selected from the drop-down list.
- Enter your username and password, then click Log In.
- Click Domains from the top menu.
- Click on the Domain Name that you wish to manage.
If you only have (1) one Domain, you will automatically be routed to its management page. - Scroll down until you see the Administration section, then hover your cursor over the Admin/Tech/Billing Contact and click on the Assign New link.
- Select Existing Customer, then select Customer’s ID or Username and enter their corresponding information.
- Click on the Assign New ID button (or the Create Contact button for New Customers) to save.
Congratulations! You’ve now assigned new contacts to your Domain Name. The Domain Name (or Product) will now appear in the assignee’s account, but with LIMITED ACCESS. You will remain as its Registrant or legal owner.
