Update Domain Registrant Contact Details
Keeping your domain contact information accurate is essential, especially your Registrant Contact details, which are provided during domain registration. These details are required by the Registry for audits and to ensure you receive important updates, such as renewal reminders.
For most TLDs, you can update your Registrant's address, email, and phone number. However, the Registrant name—whether it's your personal name or your business/trading name and business number—cannot be changed. If you need to update the name, you'll need to complete a domain ownership transfer.
This article will focus on how you can update your Registrant Contact details, plus how to assign other users as Admin/Tech/Billing Contacts.
Updating the Registrant Contact
Note: Updating the Registrant email address will trigger a 60-day transfer lock, during which your domain name cannot be transferred to another registrar. This is in accordance with Registry policies.
If you're planning to transfer your domain, we recommend completing the transfer first before making any updates to the Registrant contact details.
Follow these steps to update your Registrant Contact information:
-
Log in to your Vodien account manager. If you don’t have access, refer to this guide on How To Recover Account Access.
-
From the top left menu select Domains.
-
Click on the Domain Name that you wish to manage.
-
If you only have (1) one Domain, you will automatically be routed to its management page.
-
Scroll down until you see the Administration section, then hover your cursor over the Registrant Contact section and click on the Change Owner.
-
Enter your new contact details and click SAVE CHANGES.
Assigning Admin, Tech, and Billing Contacts
The Admin, Tech, and Billing Contact details are directly linked to your Vodien Account Profile.
Any changes you make to your profile will automatically update these contact details across all domains and products in the same account. Likewise, editing the Admin, Tech, or Billing information for one domain or product will also update your Account Profile and apply the same changes across all associated services.
NOTE. If you want to assign someone else to manage one of these roles for your domain, do not use the “Modify” option. Doing so may give them full access to your entire account and all its contents.
Instead, ask them to create their own Vodien account and share their Customer ID or Username with you so you can safely delegate access.
Once you have their details, follow these steps to assign a new Admin/Tech/Billing Contact:
-
Log in to your Vodien account manager. If you don’t have access, refer to this guide on How To Recover Account Access.
-
From the top left menu select Domains.
-
Click on the Domain Name that you wish to manage.
-
If you only have (1) one Domain, you will automatically be routed to its management page.
-
Scroll down until you see the Administration section, then hover your cursor over the Admin/Tech/Billing Contact and click ASSIGN NEW.
-
Select Existing Customer, then select Customer’s ID or Username and enter their corresponding information.
-
Click SEND ASSIGN REQUEST to save.
Congratulations! You’ve now assigned new contacts to your Domain Name. The Domain Name (or Product) will now appear in the assignee’s account, but with LIMITED ACCESS. You will remain as its Registrant or legal owner.
