Email Backup provides different restore options so you can recover the data you need while preserving your existing mailbox contents.
- Add to Original Folders
- Use this if you want to seamlessly recover missing messages without creating duplicates or overwriting existing emails.
- Restores emails to their original folders.
- Only missing emails are restored. Existing emails in your mailbox are not modified.
- Restore to a Separate Folder
- Use this if you want to restore a large number of emails or an entire backup version without mixing them into your current mailbox structure.
- Restores all selected emails into a new folder created in your mailbox.
- The folder is automatically named with the restore date, such as: “Restored Emails 18-11-25”
Frequently asked questions
No. Backup data is stored independently and does not count toward your mailbox storage allocation.
However, restored emails are added back to your mailbox and will consume mailbox storage. If there is insufficient space available, the restore operation may fail until additional storage becomes available.
When restoring emails:
- Original timestamps are preserved.
- Restored emails are marked as unread.
- Existing emails are never overwritten.
- Attachments and formatting remain intact.
