Setting Up and Publishing DS Records for DNSSEC

DNS Security Extensions (DNSSEC) help protect your domain by making sure the DNS information sent to visitors is correct and hasn’t been altered. It does this by adding a digital signature to your DNS records (like A, MX, and CNAME), which secure DNS services—such as Google Public DNS—can verify. Think of it as an extra lock for your domain’s settings. 

DS (Delegation Signer) record is a key part of DNSSEC. It confirms that the DNS information truly comes from your domain’s official nameserver and hasn’t been tampered with.

How to Set Up and Publish DS Records for DNSSEC

Since our name servers are not DNSSEC-supported yet, we recommend that you use an external name servers that support DNSSEC. Your external name server provider can have the DNS zone digitally signed by them and they will provide the DS records so we can have it published on the domain's registry.

What You Need Before You Start: 

• Your domain must be registered with Vodien. 
• Your nameservers must be external. 
• Your DNS hosting provider must support DNSSEC for your domain’s extension (TLD).

To enable it, you’ll need to: 

• Use external nameservers that support DNSSEC. 
• Have your DNS hosting provider digitally sign your DNS zone.  
• Get your DS records from your name server provider so we can publish them to the domain’s registry. See sample DS record.

Steps to Set Up DS Records

1. Contact your nameserver/DNS hosting provider and ask them to turn on DNSSEC for your domain if it’s not already enabled. 
2. Once DNSSEC is enabled, request the DS records from your DNS hosting provider. These contain the key information needed for setup.  
3. Submit your DS records to our Support Team via our Online Contact Form.

• Select SUPPORT for the Department 
• Select DOMAINS for the Category 
• Put your name, domain or customer ID 
• Use your working email and contact number 
• Put Setup DNSSEC on the Subject 
• Attach the requirements. 
• Wait for our Customer Care Specialist to get back to your regarding your request within 48 hours.
