How to generate CSR from cPanel

A CSR is required in order to generate your SSL certificate.

A CSR is a Certificate Signing request. It is a block of encrypted text that is generated on the server that the certificate will be used on. It contains information that will be included in your certificate such as your organization name, common name (domain name), locality and country.

PLEASE NOTE:

1) If you protect your CSR with a passphrase, please make sure to only include alpha-numeric characters, such as; A, B, C, 1, 2, 3, otherwise, you’ll encounter an error.

2) Also, do NOT use any International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) characters/symbols; such as, ñ, ú, ã, ë within the CSR as this will also create an error.

3) Moving forward, note that due to an industry update, all Certificate Authorities will no longer accept 1024-bit CSRs. When making your CSR, please use 2048-bits to satisfy industry standards.

1) Login to cpanel via domain.com/cpanel [replace domainname.com with actual domain name]
2) Go to SSL/TLS Manager
3) Go to Generate, view, or delete SSL certificate signing requests
4) key -> Generate a new 2,048 bit key
5) Domains -> enter the domain name that you would like to generate with the SSL certificate such as www.domainname.com

7) State -> SG
