How To Change Joomla Website URL

Changing your website link might be necessary if you change your business name, you have migrated the site, or if you bought a new domain name. Joomla websites do not require changing the configuration file since the website will work as long as the domain name is pointing to the correct directory. However, if it does not do it correctly on its own, follow the steps below on how to change a Joomla website’s URL:

1. Log in to cPanel.
2. Click File Manager.
3. Go to your Joomla website files and locate the configuration.php file.
4. Right-click on the file and select Edit.
   
   
   
    
5. Look for ‘public $live_site =’ and add the new Joomla website URL in between the apostrophes.
   
   
   
    
6. Check the $log_path and $tmp_path. Change the paths with the new website directory if necessary.
   
   
   
    
7. Click Save Changes on the top-right.
