How to add a Google Workspace user

To add a user to your Google Workspace, simply create a new user profile directly on your Google Workspace subscription page. Once added, each user gains access to features included in your plan—such as Google account, custom Gmail, Google Drive, Google Meet, and more—depending on your specific subscription level.

Create a Google Workspace user

  1. Access your Google Workspace subscription.
  2. Click on the Users tab.
  3. On the Users page, click CREATE USER.
  4. Fill out the user details:
    First Name

    Enter your first name.

    Last Name

    Enter your last name.

    Email local-part

Enter the user of your choice for your custom Gmail.

    Alternative email

Enter your working alternative email. Google will send important notifications to this email to complete the setup.

    Assign as Admin

Check or uncheck this field. The first user will automatically become the admin user. The admin user will be used to access your Google Admin console.

  5. Once the user details are complete, click on CREATE USER.
  6. Check out your alternative email and open the email from Google containing the instructions to create a password for the user you created. Follow and complete the instructions.
  7. Once done, your Google Workspace user is ready.

If it's the first time you created a user, you need to verify your domain to unlock the available Google services included in your plan. See How to verify your domain with Google Workspace.
