How to Map Your Domain with Wix

Wix is a cloud-based web development platform that offers a drag-and-drop website builder to create small sites. If you’ve registered a domain with Vodien, you can easily connect it to your Wix website by doing three things:

          Step 1: Map your Vodien domain
          Step 2: Change your domain name servers
          Step 3: Verify your domain connection
          Step 4: Change your MX Record (if you have Vodien email hosting)

The fourth step is only if you have your emails hosted with Vodien, too. Let’s start with step 1.

Step 1: Map Your Vodien Domain

Follow these steps to add your Vodien domain to your Wix account:

1. Log in to your Wix account. 
2. On the left-side menu, click Settings, then Domains.

   

3. Click Connect a domain you already own.
   If you don’t have a Wix Premium Plan, you will be asked to upgrade.
4. Select the Wix website that you’d like to connect with your Vodien registered domain, then click Next.
5. Enter your Vodien domain name and click Next.

Do not exit the page after adding your Vodien domain on Wix. You will need to get back to this page to verify the connection in step 3. First, continue to step 2.

Step 2: Change Your Domain Name Servers

After step 1, Wix will provide you with your website’s Name Servers. Access your Vodien account manager and follow this guide to change your name servers.

Then, proceed with step 3 to verify the connection.

Step 3: Verify Your Domain Connection

Return to the page that you left open after adding your domain on Wix and click on the Verify Connection button.

If you’ve accidentally closed the page or lost your connection, don’t worry. You can skip this step and simply do a DNS lookup. 

Allow up to 24 hours for the records to completely propagate across the network and you’re all done. However, if your emails are hosted with Vodien,  proceed with step 4.

Step 4: Change Your MX Record

After changing your name servers to Wix’s records, all DNS Management will be handed over to Wix. This means that all other DNS Changes will have to be done via your Wix account.

If you have an email hosting with Vodien that’s connected to the same domain, proceed with the steps below:

1. Log in to your Wix account.
2. On the left-side menu, click Settings, then Domains.
3. Click the […] Ellipsis Icon corresponding to the Vodien domain you just added, then select Connect to an External Mailbox.
4. Select your email provider from the drop-down and you’re done.
   If your email provider is not in the list, select Other and proceed with the next step.
5. Enter mail.yourdomain.com below the Points to field.
   Replace “yourdomain.com” with your actual Vodien domain name.
6. Click Connect Mailbox to complete.
