How to manually install WordPress via FTP

If you do not have access to the Control Panel or an automatic WordPress installer, you can still install WordPress manually via FTP.

Before you begin

Make sure that the following requirements are completed:

• Your domain or subdomain is pointed to the correct hosting directory.
• A MySQL database and database user have been created.
• Your FTP credentials are available.
• Download the latest version of WordPress from the official download page.
• Extract the downloaded WordPress archive on your computer before uploading the files to your hosting account.

Installing WordPress via FTP

1. From your computer, upload all files and folders inside the WordPress folder to the web hosting server. You can refer to this guide on how to upload files and folders to FTP client.
2. Access your website's domain or subdomain in a web browser to start the WordPress installation wizard.
3. Choose your preferred language and click Continue.
4. Have the following database details ready:
   • Database name
   • Database username
   • Database password
   • Database host
      
5. Click Let’s go! to continue.
   
   
   
    
6. Enter the requested website details in the corresponding fields. The highlighted boxes are the usual details that need to be edited. The last two boxes can be left as they are and can be changed later on.
7. Click the Submit button to save the details and to proceed to the next page.
   
   
   
    
8. Click Run the installation.
   
   
   
    
9. Enter the website details asked in each corresponding boxes. Take note of the username and password you set up, as these credentials are required to log in to the WordPress admin page.
10. Click Install WordPress.
    
    
    
     
11. A successful installation message will appear on the next page. Click Log In to access the WordPress admin page.
    
    
    
    
    You can now log in to the WordPress admin page using the username and password you created during setup.
