How to Set up Email Account in Outlook 2016

Outlook 2016 is the latest email client from Microsoft Office. You will be able to access your emails once you open your computer with this application. You will be guided in setting up your email account either via IMAP or POP.  

Before you continue on the steps, make sure that you have already created your email account. If you have, continue with the steps below:

Step 1. Open Outlook and click File.

Step 2. Under the Account Information page, click Add Account.

Step 3. On the Auto Account Setup page, choose Manual setup or additional server types and click Next.

Step 4. On the Choose Service display, selectPOP or IMAP and click Next.

Step 5. Under POP and IMAP Account Settingspage, fill out the required fields. 

Your Name Enter the identifying name for your email address. In the example, this is Tony Stark, but it can be a functional name as well such as Your Business Sales.
Email Address Enter the full email address, such as [email protected].
Account Type Choose whether you want to use POP3 or IMAP.
Incoming Mail Server mail.yourdomain.com
Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) mail.yourdomain.com
User Name Enter your full email address, such as [email protected].
Password Enter the password you use for this email address. We recommend checking the Remember Password option so Outlook will save your password for future use.
Require logon using Secure Password Authentication Do not check this option.

Step 6. Click More Settings. 
Step 7. Internet E-mail Settings will pop-up, click on the Outgoing Server tab. Check My outgoing server (SMTP) require authentication box and select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Step 8. Click the Advanced. Change port numbers to the following: 

  IMAP POP
Secure SSL Incoming: 993
Outgoing: 465
Incoming: 995
Outgoing: 465
Non-secure SSL Incoming: 143
Outgoing: 26
Incoming: 110
Outgoing: 26

Step 9. Click OK.
Step 10. Click Next. Outlook will now test your account settings. Once completed, click Close.

Step 11. Click Finish once you see the message "You're all set!

If you already have emails inside your Inbox, this will slowly download for you to read and check. This may take time, kindly keep your Outlook open and connected to the internet

Edit Settings

If you encounter any troubles when it comes to connecting to your incoming or outgoing mail servers or your password has changed, you can go through the steps below on how to change your current settings:

1. Open Outlook and click File.
2. Click Account Settings, on the drop-down click Account Settings... again.
3. Select the email address you wish to edit and choose Change.
4. On the Change Account screen, you can change the following:

  • Incoming mail server
  • Outgoing mail server
  • Password

5. Click Next.

Outlook will then test the new settings you've added. Once successful, click Finish. Your Outlook will start looking for new emails you've received and sent.
