VD Linux | Create a Website
APPLICATION. This guide is applicable for Web Hosting, Business Hosting, and WordPress Hosting plans bought on March 26, 2026, onwards.
This article provides step-by-step instructions for adding a website to your Linux Hosting account. It covers creating a new site using a content management system (CMS) such as WordPress, as well as setting up an empty website directory for uploading an existing website.

Set up a Wordpress website
Follow these steps to install a WordPress website:
NOTE. A WordPress site is pre-installed by default on Linux hosting. You can delete it to start from scratch or follow this guide to add another website if your plan allows.
- In your Linux Control Panel, click the ADD SITE button.
- Select Install WordPress and click CONTINUE.
- Enter a title for the new WordPress site and click Continue.
- Enter your domain name or opt for a temporary domain if you're still testing.
- Click CONTINUE and wait for the system to start and complete your WordPress installation.
Set up an empty website
Follow these steps to setup an empty website or directory. Use this option if you already have website files that you plan to upload manually.
- In your Linux Control Panel, click the ADD SITE button.
- Select Other (empty environment) and click CONTINUE.
- Enter the title for this website and click CONTINUE.
- Enter your domain name or opt for a temporary domain if you're still testing.
- Click CONTINUE and wait for the system to create an empty directory.
- Once the website or directory is added, you can do the following actions afterwards:
- Install WordPress or other CMS applications.
- Upload your website files.
Install a CMS on your website
After creating an empty website or directory in your hosting account, follow these steps to install WordPress or another CMS application.
- Locate the empty website that you want to manage in your Linux Control Panel.
- Click the SETTINGS button. This will open the Linux Website Manager interface.
- Scroll down to Quick Links section.
- Click CMS INSTALLER. This will open the Softaculous Interface.
- Search the application that you want to install and click Install.
- Fill out the required information (e.g. domain name, directory, databases, admin login details).
- Once you're done with the details, click Install. Installation time will differ depending on the chosen script or application.
Remove a website
Follow this guide to remove a website from your Linux Hosting account.
IMPORTANT. Deleting or removing your website is a straightforward process, but it is important to note that this action is permanent and cannot be undone. Ensure you have backup before you proceed.
- Locate the website that you want to delete in your Linux Control Panel.
- Click the SETTINGS button. This will open the Linux Control Panel.
- On the Website Manager main menu, click Settings.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the following options:
- DELETE CONTENT ONLY (for WordPress only). This allows you to delete WordPress posts, pages, media, users, and comments so you can start fresh.
- DELETE SITE. This will delete everything (content, backups, database).
- REMOVE WORDPRESS (for WordPress only). This will delete your WordPress files in your directory but will keep the directory (empty website).
