Manage Redirections in cPanel
This guide walks you through how to create, manage, and remove redirects using cPanel. By the end of this guide, you’ll know how to redirect visitors from one URL to another, helping keep your traffic flowing, improving user experience, and ensuring your website stays accessible.
How redirects help manage your website traffic
The Redirects feature in cPanel lets you automatically direct visitors from one URL to another. This is helpful when pages are updated, renamed, or no longer available.
You can use redirects to:
- Guide users from old pages to their updated versions
- Redirect one domain to a different domain
- Maintain website traffic and search engine rankings after URL changes
- Fix broken or outdated links
By setting up redirects, you can ensure that visitors are always directed to the correct page, even if the original link is no longer active.
How to create redirects in cPanel
Follow these steps to add a redirect:
- Log in to cPanel.
- Go to the Domains section, then click Redirects.
- Choose a redirect type:
- Permanent (301) – Use this when a page has been permanently moved. It also signals search engines to update their index.

- Select a domain, or choose All Public Domains, from the https?://(www.) dropdown.
- In the / field, enter the specific part of the URL you want to redirect.

https://yourdomain.com/folder/filename.php, enterfolder/filename.php
- Example: To redirect
- In the Redirects to field, enter the destination URL where visitors will be sent.
- Choose your preferred www. redirection option:
- Only redirect with www – Applies the redirect only to URLs with the “www” prefix
- Redirect with or without www – Applies the redirect to all users, regardless of the prefix
