How To Access the Website Files of WordPress Hosting
Some plugins and themes on WordPress require the configuration of hosting PHP parameters. Thus, some files and folders also need to be manually uploaded directly to the hosting. Changes similar to these will require you to access the website files. Please follow the instructions below on how to access the website files in your WordPress Hosting:
- Obtain your WordPress hosting SFTP credentials.
- Open any available FTP client installed on your device. If none is installed yet, you can download one from Filezilla’s website. Filezilla is the most commonly used FTP client as it is free and available for Mac and Windows system.
- Connect via SFTP connection using the FTP client you have. You can see the instructions on the links below:
NOTE: Make sure to replace the protocol to SFTP instead of FTP and use the port number 22.
Once the connection is established, you can start uploading files and folders to the hosting by copying and pasting the files to the Remote Site box from your computer. You can also modify or download the files and folders by right-clicking on the corresponding file or folder to be edited.
