How To Transfer Domain Name to Vodien

This article describes the process of transferring a domain name to Vodien. It lists the prerequisites (unlocked domain, authorization code, valid domain status, disabled domain privacy, and access to registrant email), outlines the steps to prepare the domain, add it to Vodien, and authorize the transfer, and provides information on transfer status updates, duration by TLD, and common issues.

Before you begin

Before transferring your domain to Vodien, ensure that the following requirements are met:

  • Your domain is unlocked at your current registrar
  • You have your Authorization Code (EPP code) ready
  • The domain is not expired or in redemption period
  • The domain has no domain privacy
  • You have access to the domain’s registrant email address (this is needed for approval emails)

Step 1: Prepare your domain for transfer

To prepare your domain name for transfer, log in to your current domain registrar account and complete the following steps:

  1. Unlock your domain. Look for settings like Domain Lock or Registrar Lock and disable it.

  2. Get your Authorization Code (EPP code). This is required to approve the transfer. It is usually found in your domain management settings or can be requested from your current domain registrar customer support.

  3. Disable domain privacy. If you have a domain privacy enabled, make sure to disable it. This is to ensure that the registrant email of your domain is not hidden or proxied.

  4. Ensure access to the domain registrant email. Make sure your domain’s registrant email address is correct and accessible. This is used for transfer approval.

  5. Save a copy of your current DNS settings. If you are using your current registrar’s name servers, the DNS will only work while the domain is registered with them. Once transferred out, you will need to set up your DNS again in your Vodien account. So, make sure you have a copy of your DNS settings before you start the domain transfer.
If your DNS is hosted externally, no action is needed.

Step 2: Add your domain to Vodien

To initiate the domain transfer, complete the following steps:

  1. Log in to your Vodien Account.
  2. Click on the Domains tab.
  3. Select Transfer.
  4. Enter the domain name that you want to transfer in the Search Box.
  5. Click on the TRANSFER button.
  6. Enter your domain password (a.k.a. authorization code, EPP code, or registry key).
  7. Click ADD TO CART.
  8. Continue and complete the checkout and payment process.

Step 3: Authorize the transfer

Once you submit the transfer request, the process begins automatically. An approval email will be sent to the registrant email address associated with your domain. This email is used to confirm that you authorize the transfer.

  1. Log in to the email account linked to your domain’s registrant contact details.
  2. Look for an email related to the domain transfer request.
  3. Open the email and click Confirm (or the approval button/link provided).
  4. This confirms and allows the transfer to proceed.

Once approved, your current registrar will process the transfer. Just wait for the transfer to complete.

If you need to reconfigure your DNS, read this guide: Manage DNS Records in Account Manager

No approval email received
