New Outlook Version Not Connecting to Titan Email

This article outlines the reasons why Titan Email may not connect to the new version of the Microsoft 365 Outlook app on Windows or macOS. It also includes troubleshooting steps and recommends workarounds to help resolve the issue.

Identifying the issue

You may encounter one or more of the following issues when setting up a Titan Email account in the new Microsoft Outlook desktop app on Windows or macOS:

In some cases, the same email account continues to work properly in Titan Webmail or other email clients.

Understanding the possible cause

The new Microsoft 365 Outlook uses a different architecture for handling IMAP accounts than classic Outlook. Instead of connecting directly to the mail server in all cases, Outlook synchronizes many third-party email accounts through Microsoft's cloud services.

This behavior may result in compatibility issues with some IMAP providers, including Titan Email, which may result in connection or authentication errors.

The issue may also occur if:

  • Third-party email client access for Titan is disabled
  • Incorrect incoming or outgoing mail server settings are configured
  • Cached credentials or authentication tokens interfere with the connection process

Recommended solution

Follow the checks below to identify and resolve the issue.

1. Confirm email account credentials

Confirm that you can successfully sign in to Titan Webmail using the same email address and password.

If you cannot access Titan webmail, reset the mailbox password before attempting to connect the account to Outlook again.

2. Confirm that third-party email client access is enabled

Ensure that the Titan mailbox allows access from external email clients that use IMAP and SMTP.

3. Confirm the mail server settings

If Outlook allows manual configuration, confirm that the correct Titan mail server settings are being used. Refer to our How To Get Started With Titan Email guide to know the email server settings.

4. Remove and add the account again

If the account was previously configured:

  1. Remove the account from Outlook.
  2. Close Outlook completely.
  3. Reopen Outlook.
  4. Add the email account again using the correct email credentials server settings.

5. Other solutions

If the issue persists after completing the troubleshooting steps, use one of the following alternatives:

  • Use Titan Webmail to access your email
  • Use another email client that supports standard IMAP connections
  • If available, use classic Outlook instead of the new Outlook application, as some users report more reliable connectivity with Titan Email using the classic desktop client

Additional details

Recent reports from Titan email users across different providers suggest possible compatibility issues between Titan Email and the new Microsoft Outlook desktop application on both Windows and macOS.

If your account works without any issues in Webmail but not in the new Outlook, the problem may be due to how the application handles third-party IMAP accounts rather than an issue with the mailbox itself.
